Buggin around.

Tyler's favorite past time lately is going outside. When he is outside, he moves nonstop. Due to the very warm weather lately, we have been having a little more company to our backyard than usual and Tyler and our dog, Daisy have been having a wonderful time welcoming them. Sometimes Tyler and Daisy fight over a particular bug, but both have the best intentions of not wanting to harm the bugs, but it does not always work out for the best. Daisy likes to play with bugs or worms. She picks them up, puts them in her mouth, does not eat them, but drops them then barks at them in excitement, then rolls around on them. Most of the time the bugs do not survive. Ty is a little more humane, but if you are not careful and surprise him, he might hold the bug a little too tight while he is running away from you trying to hide the bug so that you do not make him put it down. Over all as a mother, I don't mind them exploring the world of bugs as long as they are not spiders, then I freak out and quickly quit playtime outside. I perfer that they don't kill the poor creatures unless they are spider, then they can kill as many as they want to. Here is a cute video of Ty with a new bug friend that ended up living an escaping.

Picnic Day.

So much as happened this last week, that I could write forever, but I won't.
Last Saturday was filled with fun and worry. We had been planning to attend Picnic Day at UC Davis for the last month. We were super excited and anticipating all the cool things we could see and the exhibits we could attend with Ty now that he is older and would be more interested in the animals, but things did not turn out exactly the way we planned.

On Friday night, our beagle, Daisy, started showing signs that she was not feeling well. By the end of the night, she was having trouble walking and using the bathroom. She would just lay down and wine. We thought that she might have a bowel obstruction because this dog will eat anything; paper clips, toothpicks, nickles, etc. (I should not mention this, but since Eric is in Vet school, he did do a rectal exam to see if he could feel a blockage. Eeeewwww!.)By Saturday morning, she was worse and of course this was the day that we were planning on attending Picnic Day. Since her Vet office is in Davis, Eric took Daisy to the Dr, while Ty and I went on our adventure. Poor Eric had to miss part of the day to be with Daisy, but then left her at the Vet to have fun with us. Little did we anticipate was the difficulty of seeing all the cools exhibits with an almost 2 year old in hot weather and one who did not have a nap that day. Overall, we did not see many exhibits because of the crowds and Ty's lack any attention span. He did have a lot of fun at the bubble table set up for kids and he did love running away from us at any moment that we were not holding him. After we had all the fun and tantrums we could have, we picked up Daisy from the Vet. She did not have a bowel obstruction. She had an abscess in her anal gland. Yuck!. Never wish this on any dog.

It was very exhausting day and we all crashed when we either got in the car or set foot in the house. Like we said last year and said again this year,"Next year will be better because Ty will be older and enjoy be able to enjoy the exhibits more."Ty loved the bubble so much. He spent an hour at the table and even pushed other kids out of the way to get to the bubbles. Here is Daisy on heavy narcotics, antibiotics, and a warm compress on her tush after the abscess ruptured.
This is what happened when Daisy could not leave her tush alone. She is pretty pitiful.

Adventures of a Toddler.

In the life of a Toddler, aka Tyler, life is very exciting. There are all these new toys, bugs, and even rocks to explore. On a typical day of a certain Toddler, aka Tyler, it begins with eating then going outside, eating some more, sleeping, waking up, eating, going outside, eating again, and if parents allow going outside again, having a bath, cuddling, then going to bed. The next day starts and the same routine begins.

Lately all Tyler wants to do is play outside. He loves to explore all the different rocks in our backyard and see how many he can stick in his mouth before mommy discovers them. When I give him the special tone of voice. He opens his mouth and all these rocks come out. One day I was not watching him closely enough. He was playing in a rock pile with a little cup. He scooped a cup of dirt into his mouth and when I finally looked at him, he smiled at me with this black smile. I immediately ran over to him where he started spitting out mud and smiling. I don't know what it is but I have issues with eating dirt. I wanted to vomit. So I grabbed him and took him to the sink at the same time gagging my self. Then I proceeded to wash out his mouth and kept gagging at the same time. It was so gross! He just kept spitting out the dirt and thought it was fun to play with the water. Hopefully this incidence does not repeat itself because I don't think I could take hold myself together.

Its been so fun to see Tyler explore everything outside. It is almost like you can see his thoughts how he discovers and learns new things. I love it!
Tyler loves chalk. Unfortunately he brougt it into the house and drew on the piano bench, the wall, and a chair before we caught him .

Tyler is helping Grandma do the weeding.

Tyler has now been known as the handyman. He loves to try and fix things with his screwdriver and hammer.
